I have not carried out Risk Assessments for my company activities

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations require every employer to make ‘suitable and sufficient’ assessment of risks to employees, and risks to other people who might be affected by the organisation.

Do you use substances which are hazardous to health?

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations requires employers to undertake assessments of the risks to Health arising from the use of or exposure to substances of a hazardous nature. Which will include applicable signage, PPE requirements and carry out Health surveillance where necessary.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations is to ensure that work equipment is used without risks to Health and Safety.

Are personnel exposed to noise above the action level?

The requirements of the Noise at Work Regulations are to protect people from exposure to harmful noise progressively take effect.

An assessment of daily personal exposure to noise will be needed wherever people have to shout or have difficulty being heard clearly in the workplace by someone about two metres away.

Do activities in the workplace involve lifting or manual handling operations?

The Manual Handling Operations Regulations cover a wide range of Manual Handling activities which includes; lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving.

The Personal Protective Equipment Regulations define equipment so as to include types of clothing or equipment which is worn or held to protect against risk.

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require you to provide adequate and appropriate first-aid equipment, facilities and people so your employees can be given immediate help if they are injured or taken ill at work.

The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) require the reporting of specified accidents, ill health and dangerous occurrences to the enforcing agency.
